Terms of Use

Last updated: September 27, 2026

Welcome to Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support.

These Terms of Use apply to your use of faithharborpetlosssupport.com and the information, resources, and pastoral-support opportunities made available through the website.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support exists to provide compassionate, Christ-centered encouragement, practical guidance, and hope for people grieving the loss of a beloved pet.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support is operated by Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC. In these Terms, references to Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support mean that ministry and service as operated by Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC.

By using this website, you agree to use it responsibly and in accordance with these Terms.

Grief support and educational information

The information provided by Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support is intended for educational, pastoral, and grief-support purposes.

Our articles and support guides are designed to provide encouragement, practical information, and a Christian perspective on pet loss. They are not intended to replace individualized professional care when such care is needed.

Grief is deeply personal. Information that is meaningful or helpful to one person may not be appropriate for every person’s circumstances.

Nothing on this website guarantees a particular emotional, spiritual, medical, veterinary, or other outcome.

Pastoral support

Pastor Shawn Miller provides Christian pastoral grief support through Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support.

Pastoral support may include listening, conversation, prayer, spiritual encouragement, and companionship during grief.

Pastoral support through Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support is not psychotherapy, professional mental-health treatment, medical care, veterinary care, legal advice, or an emergency service.

Pastor Shawn cannot diagnose medical or mental-health conditions, make veterinary decisions for you, or guarantee immediate availability or a particular response time.

If Pastor Shawn is unable to answer when you call, you may leave a message, and he will return your call as he is able.

Pastoral communications should not be understood as creating a therapist-client, physician-patient, veterinarian-client, attorney-client, or other professional relationship carrying the legal confidentiality protections associated with those relationships.

Mental-health crises and emergencies

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support is not an emergency or crisis service.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental-health crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (opens in a new tab).

For a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or your local emergency service.

Do not rely on Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support, its website, email, or pastoral-support telephone number for emergency assistance.

Veterinary information

Some Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support resources discuss subjects such as pet euthanasia, quality of life, pain, changes in behavior, eating and drinking, elimination, surviving pets, and end-of-life concerns.

This information is educational and supportive. It is not veterinary diagnosis or treatment and does not create a veterinarian-client relationship.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support cannot determine what an individual animal is experiencing and will not tell you when your pet should be euthanized.

Questions about your animal’s health, pain, behavior, quality of life, treatment, or end-of-life care should be discussed with a qualified veterinarian familiar with your animal’s condition.

If you believe an animal may be experiencing a veterinary emergency, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary hospital promptly.

Christian and theological content

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support is intentionally a Christian ministry.

The website contains Scripture, prayer, Christian teaching, pastoral reflection, and discussion of questions such as grief, creation, heaven, and Christian hope.

We seek to distinguish between what Scripture clearly teaches, what may reasonably provide grounds for Christian hope, and what Scripture does not specifically reveal.

Some theological questions surrounding animals, death, and eternity are matters on which Christians may prayerfully reach different conclusions.

Pastoral and theological content on this website represents Christian ministry and reflection. It should not be understood as medical, veterinary, mental-health, or other licensed professional advice.

Independent resources and external links

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support links to independent websites and organizations that may provide useful information or support.

These currently include resources related to crisis support, veterinary medicine, pet loss, and Scripture.

External websites are independent of Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support. A link does not mean that Faith Harbor controls the external website, its content, availability, privacy practices, or services.

When you follow an external link, you leave Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support and become subject to the destination website’s own terms, policies, and practices.

We encourage visitors to evaluate outside resources according to their own circumstances and needs.

Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, the original writing, support guides, page copy, graphics, photographs, logos, artwork, branding, and website design presented by Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You are welcome to read, share links to, and personally use the free support resources available on this website.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, commercially exploit, substantially copy, or present Faith Harbor’s original material as your own without appropriate permission, except as otherwise permitted by law.

The names, trademarks, copyrighted works, Scripture translations, and other material belonging to third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

Nothing in these Terms claims ownership of third-party material.

This section describes Faith Harbor’s own material. What you write and the photographs you add to a memorial belong to you, and are addressed in the memorial sections below.

Scripture

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support may quote or link to Scripture as part of its Christian ministry and educational content.

Bible translations and related materials may be protected by copyright and are used subject to the rights and permissions of their respective copyright holders.

Specific Bible-translation acknowledgment and copyright information may be provided separately where appropriate.

Acceptable use

You may use Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support for lawful personal and informational purposes.

You may not intentionally interfere with the operation or security of the website, attempt unauthorized access to its systems, use the website to distribute malicious code, or use automated methods in a manner intended to damage, overwhelm, or disrupt the service.

You may not misrepresent yourself as Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support, Pastor Shawn Miller, or an authorized representative of the ministry.

Nothing in this section is intended to prevent ordinary search-engine indexing, legitimate linking, or reasonable personal use of the website.

Current website features

The website currently provides written resources, external resource links, and telephone and email contact information for pastoral support.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support has also built a free memorial service, which is described in the sections below.

Apart from the memorial service, the website does not provide user accounts, comments, online purchases, donations, subscriptions, or other user-submission features.

Features described as coming soon are not currently available and should not be understood as a promise that a particular feature will be offered by a particular date.

The memorial service

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support provides a free memorial service for people who would like to create a lasting page in memory of a companion animal who has died.

The sections below apply whenever you use it.

Creating a memorial does not require an account, a username, or a password, and no fee is required to create, publish, or keep a memorial.

Creating and managing a memorial is intended for adults aged 18 or older. This does not prevent anyone from reading the support guides on this website or viewing public memorial pages.

How the memorial service handles your information is explained in the Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support Privacy Policy.

Your memorial content belongs to you

The words you write, the memories you share, and the photographs you add to a memorial remain yours, to the extent you hold rights in them. Submitting them to the memorial service does not transfer copyright or ownership to Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC or to Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support.

By submitting memorial content, you give Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC, as the operator of the memorial service, permission to do the things that service needs to do in order to work, which are to:

  • Store what you submit
  • Process the photographs you upload and create the display versions the memorial needs
  • Show you a private preview of your memorial
  • Publish and display your memorial when, and in the way, you choose to publish it
  • Operate, secure, maintain, and administer the memorial service
  • Make the technical copies and backups reasonably needed to provide the service

That permission is non-exclusive and exists only so that the memorial service can function.

We do not sell your memorial content, license it to other people, use it in advertising, use it to promote products, or use it to train artificial-intelligence systems.

Content you submit

Please submit only material that you have the right to submit and to publish. This applies to photographs as well as to writing.

Please do not submit content that:

  • Infringes another person’s copyright or other rights
  • Is unlawful
  • Is malicious, or contains harmful code
  • Is intended to invade another person’s privacy
  • Impersonates another person
  • Is abusive, or is used to harass someone

A memorial is a place to remember a companion animal. Please use it for that.

Choosing who can see a memorial

When you publish a memorial, you choose one of three settings:

  • Public — the memorial may be viewed by anyone with Internet access, and may appear in any Faith Harbor memorial listings or other ordinary public discovery features we may offer. No such listing exists at present, and being Public does not mean a memorial will be included in one.
  • Unlisted — the memorial can be viewed by anyone who has or receives its web address. It is not intended to appear in Faith Harbor memorial listings or in search-engine results.
  • Private — the memorial has no public page, and is reached only through your own memorial access link.

Please understand that Unlisted does not mean confidential, and it does not restrict access. Anyone you give the address to may pass it on to someone else, and we cannot promise that an unlisted address will never be found by a search engine or another third party.

We do not promise that a public memorial will be indexed by any search engine.

Previewing and publishing

A memorial is not published because you started one, answered the questions, confirmed your email address, or opened the preview.

Nothing becomes publicly visible until you take the step of publishing it. The private preview exists so that you can see the memorial as it would appear, and decide.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support does not review or approve memorials before they are published. You are responsible for the content of your memorial.

Changing, updating, and taking down a memorial

Using the private link we email you, you can come back to your memorial at any time to:

  • Edit what you have written and change your photographs
  • Preview the changes before anyone else sees them
  • Publish the updated memorial when you are ready
  • Change who can see it
  • Take the public memorial down

Editing a published memorial does not change what visitors see until you choose to publish the update.

Taking a memorial down removes the public memorial page and the images used to display it from the memorial service. It does not delete what you wrote, so you can publish it again later if you wish.

Copies that may exist elsewhere

Once something has been published publicly, or shared through an unlisted address, copies may exist outside our control. That can include browser caches, search-engine caches and indexes, web archives, screenshots, and copies that other people have saved or passed on.

Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC can remove material from the memorial service. We cannot guarantee the deletion of copies that unrelated third parties already hold.

This is not a reason to be afraid of publishing. It is simply something worth knowing before you choose Public or Unlisted.

Your private memorial links

The links we email you are private, and they are how the memorial service recognises that a memorial is yours.

Please do not forward or share them. Anyone who opens one of your links can read and change your memorial.

If you believe someone else has obtained one of your links, please contact Pastor Shawn using the details at the end of these Terms.

When we may restrict or remove memorial content

Faith Harbor Ministries, LLC, as the operator of the memorial service, may restrict, unpublish, or remove memorial content where we reasonably believe it is necessary because the content:

  • Is unlawful
  • Infringes another person’s copyright or other rights
  • Impersonates another person
  • Is malicious or poses a security risk
  • Is abusive or is being used to harass someone
  • Breaks these Terms, or endangers the service or other people

This is not permission for us to change someone’s memorial to suit ourselves. We will not silently rewrite the words you wrote about your companion.

Where something has to be dealt with, removing or restricting the content is what we will do, rather than editing your memorial without your permission.

Where it is reasonable and appropriate to do so, we will try to let you know.

Availability of the memorial service

We intend to look after the memorial service carefully, and to keep memorials available for the people who create them.

We cannot promise permanent hosting or uninterrupted availability. We may maintain the service, change how it works technically, pause features for maintenance or security, or, if it becomes necessary, discontinue the service.

The memorial service is provided free of charge. It is a complete service rather than a trial or a limited version, and there is no paid tier, subscription, or required donation. This does not mean that every product or service Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support may offer in the future will always be free.

Nothing in this section is intended to lessen the care we mean to take with something that matters a great deal to the people who trust us with it.

Reporting copyright or other concerns

If you believe that material on this website, or in a memorial, infringes your copyright or another of your rights, or that content should be reported for another reason described in these Terms, please contact Pastor Shawn using the details at the end of this page.

Please describe the material, where it appears, and why you believe there is a problem, and include a way for us to reach you.

We will review concerns promptly and take the action we reasonably consider appropriate, which may include removing or restricting the material.

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support handles these concerns by contact rather than through a formal designated-agent process.

Future products, memorials, and services

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support may introduce additional resources or services in the future, including books, memorial resources, programs, or other offerings.

Additional or revised terms may apply if features such as accounts, payments, subscriptions, or other interactive services are introduced.

These Terms will be reviewed and updated as appropriate before such features are made available.

Website availability and changes

We work to provide useful and reliable resources, but we do not guarantee that the website or every resource will always be available, uninterrupted, complete, or error-free.

Content, external links, resources, and website functionality may be corrected, updated, removed, or changed over time.

We may also update the website as the ministry and its resources develop.

No guaranteed results

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support cannot promise how quickly grief will change or how any particular resource, conversation, prayer, or practice will affect an individual person.

We do not impose a timetable on grief.

The purpose of this ministry is to provide compassionate support and encouragement—not to guarantee a particular result.

Privacy

Your use of this website is also subject to the Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains the limited technical information recorded by the web server, the absence of analytics and advertising trackers, what happens when you voluntarily contact Pastor Shawn by telephone or email, and how the memorial service handles memorial content, photographs, and the email address used for memorial access.

Changes to these Terms

Faith Harbor Pet Loss Support may update these Terms as the website, ministry, resources, and available services change.

When these Terms are updated, the Last updated date at the top of this page will be revised.
